Propane Tank Rules
The LP or liquid petroleum system style gas container is an OSHA term that refers to the piping, regulators, hoses, regulators, valves and fittings. The agency needs specific components depending upon the capacity of the tank. These individual components have to undergo recognized laboratory testing. The right laboratory approval proves that the system parts meet construction, pressure and thickness standards.

Tank Location
The OSHA is the group that dictates how close the propane tank is located to buildings, to ignitable materials, to tanks that contain inflammable liquids, cutting torches and welders. These stringent rules are implemented to make the jobsite as safe as possible for the employees and other individuals who are in close proximity.

Nameplate Marks
Liquefied Propane systems need to be marked with the name and the address of the supplier of the container, or tank brand name. The container capacity is listed in gallons or pounds, square foot outside surface, pressure and fill level. Additionally, details regarding whether or not the container is designed to be installed underground or above ground is also visible. These markings must be on a metal plate attached somewhere noticeable to the container. OSHA requires that each tank should be marked by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors so as to be considered safe and ready to utilize.

Tank Modifications and Repairs
Any maintenance to LP systems which require welding are regulated by OSHA. Repair workers and tank owners need to know the standards and regulatory codes which the tanks were manufactured. Welding repairs to any system part which is subject to internal pressure needs to first comply with these fabrication codes. Other welding is just permitted on saddle plates, lugs or brackets.

The OSHA works hard to ensure that people who work with forklifts and in their vicinity are kept safe. They have strict training procedures and rules in place in order to make certain that these industrial equipment and their repair processes are handled with respect and as safe as possible. It is really important that businesses follow their rules and steep fines can occur if they are not followed.
